Let's see if the DMV allows me to have this plate...

shumon

They’ve already turned down “DMINOR” and “DM1NOR” as well as “WAXRFRM”.

I want a custom plate man! (mainly because I can’t remember the mix of numbers and letters on my plate right now) It’s a tradition on my cars.

O.k. enough Mountain Dew for tonight, I’d like to sleep at some point.

New sneaks for ya'll freaks

Miss D and I went to the mall today.  I can’t tell you the last time I went to a real mall.  We’ve got a lame excuse for a mall that’s within a mile, but this mall we went to today was massive.

Anyhow, these gems caught my eye while we were walking through the mall, so I immediately added them to my collection, in honor of MJ.  They strike me as something he’d wear; if he ever wore sneakers!

I don’t really know where to start.  I wanted to blog about this a few days ago, but honestly, it still hasn’t hit me.

All the news coverage, the sensationalism, the gossip, it’s not enough to cement the fact that his is no longer with us.

My parents used to get a good laugh out of the fact that as a child, rather than wanting toys and games, I wanted his records.  I wanted to study his every move, perfect it, then store it in the back of my mind.

He alone is the reason I wanted to sing.  His music was my reason to sing.  To know that it was possibly to create music that, for at least 3 minutes, could make you feel like a better person.

I don’t know how to put into words what impact his boundless creativity has had on my life, both as a musician, but also as a human being.  He showed me that anything was possible with hard work and determination.

It is impossible to imagine a world without him, but with time, we will all heal.  Never forgetting and often celebrating his life and music.

Thank you for everything, you’ll never fully know how you’ve impacted us all.

Kiosks at Jack n' The Box

I never thought I’d see that day when a computer replaced a human, but in this particular instance, I welcome it.

This kiosk is located inside the Jack n’ The Box in North Hollywood on Laurel Cyn. at Moorpark.

It’s a bulky machine, but what it lacks in personality, it makes up in accuracy.

I’ve eaten at this particular Jack n’ The Box more than a few times, and I’d say there’s roughly a 60/40 chance that they’ll get my order wrong at the drive through.  But today, I stood in front of this beast of a machine and placed my order - my way - and they actually got it right!

The other plus to this kiosk is that it tells you everything that’s on the item you’re ordering, in case you want to leave off the pickles or want extra onions.

So to you, Jack n’ The Box, I say “Well done!”

Let the embarrassment begin!

Me, at 8 years old, breakdancing on Kids Incorporated.  Online for all to witness, to go down in the annals of time.

Other dude is a far better breakdancer than I was, but I wasn’t shy about getting right out in front of the camera.  Tough break kid.

Enjoy.

Staying up til the sunrise

Wow.  Had you asked me earlier today if I thought that I would be up at 4:21AM, I would have told you that you’re nuts.

But here we are at 4:21AM and I’m wide awake working on a project that I honestly should have done years ago, an online catalog of all my music production.

So while I’m waiting for some of the tracks to save, I figured I’d blog about it real quick and give you a link to check out some of my work as a producer - just in case you thought I was just that dude who sings hooks on other peoples music. ;-)

Click Here to check it out!

Neglected

Sorry to those of you who read this blog, but I’ve been busy working on a new compilation album featuring production by myself and guest appearances by Othello, Muneshine, Buff1, Louis Logic, Emilio Rojas and more!

I haven’t had time to come up with a name yet, although I’ve jokingly tossed around the name “Dminor presents: I do more than just singing hooks on rap songs” but something tells me that it’s just too wordy.

So anyhow, I gotta get back to the lab, but I wanted to update everyone so that you didn’t think I was neglecting you.

be good,

After 3 years I finally made my way to visit J. Dilla’s grave site.  I’ll be honest, I feel bad that I didn’t go to the funeral or interment, but I felt like I didn’t know him personally and therefor shouldn’t be there.  I felt like my presence would have been intruding on something that was private for family and close friends.
And I realized, while I was standing there brushing the grass clippings from his headstone, that while we may have never met, his music invited me to be a part of his world and asked me to hear things through his ears.
Rest in beats, Dill.

Everyone's At It...

Just wanted to do a quick update and let everyone know that I’m in the early stages of producing a compilation album.  I figured I’d get on the ball and make it happen.  Just following in the foot steps of my boys Muneshine, Emilio Rojas, and Illmind.

So yeah, expect something (hopefully) by the end of the year.  I just need to figure out exactly who I want on this album.  As it stands right now, there will be a feature from fellow Wax Reformian, Muneshine…but that’s almost predictable at this point. haha.

Here’s sort of a wish list:

Emilio Rojas, Othello, Phonte, Blu, Illa J, C.L. Smooth…and others.  Too many good emcees to pick from, but gotta get the right chemistry for this album.

That’s pretty much all I have for right now.

Thank you and goodnight.

What's my name?

No, it’s not Snoop Doggy Daaaaaawg.

Nor is it D-Minor, DMinor, D’Minor, DeeMinor, or Dean Minor.

Its a really simple spelling and yet people always manage to screw it up. Dminor.

Uppercase D lower case m-i-n-o-r, all one word.

Dminor.

Can ya’ll please try and get it right from now on?  It makes it confusing for people when they try to find me on iTunes, etc.

Thanks,
